Snow day

Hello lovely readers,

It's been snowing in Sheffield! I know, how exciting! Now, if you're one of those people who moan about the snow because 'it disrupts everything or its too cold' then i'm sorry, but we can't be friends.
Nah, I'm only kidding. Seriously though, how can anybody not like the snow? It's so magical.

It is possible that the reason I love snow so much is because I've always lived in hot countries. Australia is mostly a desert and the only place it would snow was up high in the mountains. A few years ago we did go up to the 'snowy mountains', originally known as Mt Kosciuszko (mouth full, right?) in Canberra for a ski trip but I was quite young and unfortunately don't remember too much off it. The one other time I remember playing in the snow was years ago. I'm talking when I was infant Sanj. This was the first time I had ever seen or touched the snow. We went on a family trip north of India and visited loads of different cities over my summer break. I remember we were on one of those package tours, where you sit on a couch for hours and they take you places. One of the states we visited was Jummu and Kashmir. We only went to the Jammu part of the Himalayas to experience snow as not many people in India have seen snow. This didn't work out very well for me. I remember being extremely frozen to the point where I couldn't breath. My grandad bought me 3 to 5 cups of pipping hot coffee to keep me warm but nothing was working. The climate up there was such a shock to my system and just being there in the snow was insane! Aw, bless 7 year old me.

How weird is it, the same girl that couldn't breath because of the snow now lives in a country that snows every winter. Crazy!

Sheffield had a few of its glorious snow days and I'm sure we'll have a few more before the sun comes out again. The snow on this particle day started at about 8 o'clock and didn't stop still the next night. I ran downstairs as soon as I saw snowflakes coming down to go catch a few before people started walking on it. Since there was so much snow, the city came to a stand still. Schools, colleges and transportation was shut. Which meant no school for me! I spent the snow day tucked up in bed, binge watching pretty little liars and catching up on the royal family.
The next morning the city woke up and I heard the usual busses outside my window and got out of bed really excited because I could officially go play in the snow.

This is how deep the snow was. I honestly didn't know how to walk on it and kept slipping. I enjoyed it though. It's not everyday you can blame your clumsy walking on the snow Mwahaha.

This is the path to my college. I just loved how blue the sky on top was yet how white and snowy it was on the ground. Perfect weather.
After a few snowball fights at college, we decided to go sledging once class had finished. This was very exciting as I had never been sledging before. Erin asked a friend of hers if we could borrow her sledge as neither of us owned one. We went to a park nearby and spent the rest of the evening sledging. I was really scared at first but I eventually got the hang of it and It was hands down one of the coolest things I've ever done. It was so much fun! Definitely going again when it snows; maybe even when I'm thirty.

The next day we decided to go on a photoshoot as both Erin and I do Photography as a part of our A-levels. We thought we could get some really interesting images and basically try and make the most of the snow while its there. Here are some of my favourite photos from the shoot.

This is a little pond inside a park called Graves Park. It was so cold the pond changed from water to frozen ice.
I found this picture so funny. That little duck is practically walking on water. Kinda..

We tried to take some nice pictures of each other but as you can see the wind really wouldn't cooperate.

We made a few animal friends along the way

These past few snow days have been so much fun! All the snow has now melted but I really hope its back again soon. Even though it doesn't love me as much I love it, seeing it made me slip and fall on my bum a few times. Oops!

Let me know what you thought of these photos and I hope you've been enjoying the weather around you.

                                                   Lots of love,
